QR Code Password Protection

Secure your QR codes with password protection and control who can access your content

Overview

QR Password Protection adds an extra layer of security to your QR codes by requiring users to enter a password before they can be redirected to the destination URL. This feature controls who can access the redirect, but does not protect the destination content itself. It's perfect for controlling access to exclusive materials or ensuring only authorized users can reach your content.

How It Works

1

User scans your QR code

Instead of going directly to your destination, they see a password entry page

2

User enters the password

They type in the password you set when creating the QR code

3

Redirect granted

If the password is correct, they're redirected to your destination URL. Note: This only protects the redirect process, not the destination content itself.

Perfect For

Exclusive Content

Control who can access premium content, member-only materials, or exclusive offers

Event Access

Control who can access private events, VIP areas, or restricted locations

Controlled Access

Control who can access confidential documents, private links, or personal information

Time-Limited Access

Share temporary access codes for limited-time offers or promotions

Security Features

Passwords are securely hashed using industry-standard encryption
No plain text passwords are stored in our database
You can change or disable passwords anytime
Password protection works on all devices and QR code scanners
Important: This only protects the redirect process, not the destination content

Managing Your Passwords

Change Password: Edit your QR code and enter a new password

Disable Protection: Uncheck "Password Protection" to remove the password requirement

Keep Current Password: When editing, leave the password field empty to keep the existing password

Minimum Length: Passwords must be at least 6 characters long

Best Practices

• Use strong, unique passwords for each QR code

• Share passwords securely with intended recipients only

• Consider using password managers to generate and store complex passwords

• Regularly review and update passwords for sensitive content

• Test your password-protected QR codes before sharing them

Requirements & Limitations

Password Requirements

  • • Minimum 6 characters long
  • • No maximum length limit
  • • Can include letters, numbers, and special characters

Subscription Requirements

Password protection is available on paid subscription plans. Check your current plan to see if this feature is included.

User Experience

Users will see a password entry page when scanning your QR code. The page includes your branding and clear instructions for entering the password.

Important Limitation

QR code password protection only controls who can access the redirect process. It does not protect the destination content itself. If your destination URL is publicly accessible, users who know the direct URL can still access it without the password.
